Vocal Exercises –
Build a Great Singing Voice!

Vocal Exercises are extremely important for us to develop a great singing voice. The various scales and drills that I have included will provide an introduction to basic vocal training, and the various aspects of our singing voice that we would wish to refine.

For those who really wish to work on your voice, it is essential for you to get a good vocal instructor who can guide you and teach you how to strengthen your voice in a safe manner while reducing your dependency on various bad singing habits or singing problems.

Do also watch this teaching video of mine, in which I explain how you can sing and talk with confidence:

Before we begin with these vocal exercises, it is very important for us to warm up our voices with some simple vocal warmups, so that our vocal cords are well stretched and our voices are ready to take on the challenging singing exercises that lay ahead.

If you would like instant access to our entire library of vocal exercises, click here to find out how to do just that!

You may also wish to check out some of the Personal Singing Book Recommendations that I have made in my website. These are books on singing that in my experience are extremely useful to vocal training as well as singing education.

1) Singing Power
2) Extending Your Vocal Range
3) Vocal Flexibility and Accuracy

For all of these vocal exercises provided by me on my website, as well as by all your readers out there, do make sure that you breathe well for singing and support your voice well with your breath, producing a well-balanced voice with a good mix of breath and sound! Do practise some simple breathing exercises if you need to strengthen your breath support for singing.

The various voice training exercises will only be effective if we are able to use a balanced voice during our training sessions, as an overly airy voice would mean that we are not engaging the vocal cords and their muscles properly, whereas an overly tight and strained voice would mean that we are using too much force and friction when we are singing!

Do also take note that our jaw, throat and chin should all be suitably relaxed during our voice training practices, as any strain in these parts would lead us to develop unhealthy singing habits!

There will be many music resources as well as vocal sound clips uploaded on this website to guide you in your vocal training at home. These are meant only to be a guide and are not meant to replace proper vocal training by a trained vocal coach, which will certainly be preferable.

An IMPORTANT note for ALL to adhere to strictly: If you should find that your voice or throat starts to hurt during your vocal training sessions, STOP your vocal exercises and REST your voice immediately! This will help you to avoid any vocal damage that might occur during your self-practice.

Do also take good care of your voice by taking note of various good and bad singing foods as well as voice care tips, as these will help you to take care of your voice before, during and after your vocal training.

There are also many pitching exercises for singing available on this website for you to practise with, so that you would be able to master various song repertoire and difficult pitches with ease!

Vocal Exercises, if done properly and safely, would be able to achieve the desired effect and help you to develop a healthy and great singing voice!
