Message from Your Personal Singing Coach:

“Welcome all fellow singers, vocal coaches and singing students!

I would just like to wish all readers a very happy Labour Day (1st May), and have a great holiday on this day to celebrate the efforts of the workforce all over the world!

I have been really busy with settling the renovation matters of my music school, as we are finally moving to a new location (just across the street…).

Even though our location is so near, the move is quite big because we are shifting from a small shophouse, to a shopping mall shopfront with exposure to the public.

So, our renovation is certainly costly, and we spare no effort in making the learning experience at our music school the best that we can!

To my Singaporean readers, our new location will be at 1 Selegie Road, PoMo, #02-12 and #02-13, S(188306). We will be there latest by end May. Call 63360335 for more information.

Despite my hectic schedule, I am spending my nights preparing this Ezine for everyone, and sending them out to all of you in time.

So please do read it and do keep up your singing practices without fail! Don’t waste my efforts! ;-p

To all readers, I have started my very own Facebook fan page (Aaron Matthew Lim), and you can help me out by LIKING it at this URL:

RESOURCE Webpage: Breathing Exercises

I decided to place this topic in the Resource highlight, because it is a most important resource for our training as singers.

We do need to breathe properly and well enough for singing, and also learn how to control our breath when we sing.

More importantly, we need to know how to use our breath well with our voice, in order to create a good tone.

Our breath needs to be able to support the tone that we wish to produce, and not become a hindrance to our singing.

So, don’t hesitate to correct any breathing issues you may have when you are singing.

Start your breathing exercises now!

– 4 –

FOUNDATION Website: Singing Problems

Our singing problems are certainly going to affect our foundation as singers.

This is because these problems are usually what we are equipped with at the start, and they are what we need to work with when we start our foundation training as singers.

Without overcoming these singing problems, we will be unable to reach our highest potential as singers.

So, the foundation work that we do depends greatly on what kind of singing problems we have.

Find out the singing problems that are plaguing you now, and solve them!

– 1 –

Vocal Mindset Tip #15 – Singing can sometimes improve Overnight!

I’ve had my fair share of trials and tribulations about my singing, and I’d just like to share with you some thoughts about what I went through.

Sometimes it may seem that no matter what we do, we just can’t break a certain barrier in our singing, and we just keep meeting the same problems.

I’m not sure if any of you have experienced the same feelings that I did?

For those who wish to start off their vocal training now with some simple vocal exercises, visit this URL now:
<a href=”http://www.your-personal-singing-guide.com/vocal-exercises.html” title=”Vocal Exercises” target=”_new”>

<a href=”http://www.your-personal-singing-guide.com/vocal-exercises.html” title=”Vocal Exercises” target=”_new”>http://www.your-personal-singing-guide.com/vocal-exercises.html

Now, my experience is that, sometimes when we keep working at a problem and keep stressing about it, it remains there for a long time.

On the other hand, if we learn to give it some slack, and take our mind off the problem while still focussing on the solution or ‘cure’, the problem might just go away as soon as we do that.

Many a times, Singing can improve virtually OVERNIGHT! At least, once we are able to take our minds off the problem and not over-emphasise it in our own heads.

It is my experience that if we just keep working at our regular practices, and are very focussed on what we want to achieve in our training, we will reach our goal eventually.

Even if it is not overnight, but with constant targeted practice, we will get there.

So, to all those who have reached a plateau in your singing training and are unable to achieve more progress in your singing, I would like to ask you to take a short break from your singing training, and just learn to give your voice a rest, and also allow yourself to have a break from this problem for a while.

You might find that this short break may be more useful towards breaking the barrier in your singing, than constant stress and worry about the problem itself. ;-p

For those of us who would like to start off with some singing basics first, check out the URL here:
<a href=”http://www.your-personal-singing-guide.com/basics-of-singing.html” title=”Basics of Singing” target=”_new”>

<a href=”http://www.your-personal-singing-guide.com/basics-of-singing.html” title=”Basics of Singing” target=”_new”>http://www.your-personal-singing-guide.com/basics-of-singing.html

– 2 –

Pitching Tip #44 – Teaching Children How to Sing with Good Pitch

I have recently been doing lots of teaching for small children aged 7-10, and I’d just like to share some insight here for the benefit of those readers who are also parents.

I find that teaching children to sing with good pitch is often quite a difficult thing.

Firstly, they may not have acquired enough mastery over their own voice to be able to hold a constant and unwavering note when they sing.

This is because they may not be attuned towards having to hold a specific not when they sing, and they may not have the mental focus to do so as well.

Secondly, they may not have developed the aural awareness that is necessary for them to be able to notice small variations in pitch, and to know how to keep their pitch steady when they notice the changes!

For those who wish to begin tackling their aural awareness issues now, check out the URL below:
<a href=”http://www.your-personal-singing-guide.com/ear-training.html” title=”Ear Training” target=”_new”>

<a href=”http://www.your-personal-singing-guide.com/ear-training.html” title=”Ear Training” target=”_new”>http://www.your-personal-singing-guide.com/ear-training.html

And so, this is why children may not be able to pick out these subtle changes in pitch, and they may also lack the aural awareness to shift their singing pitch back to the correct pitch whenever they sing slightly out of tune.

Another reason could be because children are by nature equipped with shorter attention spans than adults.

Children are constantly looking for new things to do, and if we are unable to keep their attention, they will start to feel distracted and will not continue to pay attention to what you are saying.

The children in my class get tired easily, and also are unable to focus when they need water or when they need a toilet break! ;-p

This is why children also face difficulties in singing stable pitches, because they may not have the discipline and mental focus necessary for them to do so.

So, in order for us to be able to guide children to sing well with good stable pitch, we must explore these various issues and help to focus the children to be able to conquer these issues!
